Main Event 4/8/14

"One day every man's heart beats its final beat, his lungs breath their final breath, and if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others, it makes them believe deeper in something larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized by the storytellers, by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him and make what the man did live forever"

R.I.P. Ultimate Warrior

-From Lafayette, LA

-Hosts are Byron Saxton & Tom Phillips

-The show opens with a recap of Bryan winning the world title at WrestleMania, then escaping RAW with it thanks to The Shield.

-Match 1: The Shield VS The Wyatt Family

-Ambrose & Rowan start, and Ambrose slugs Rowan down before tagging in Rollins, who assists with a double team suplex for two. Rowan promptly slugs Rollins down and goes to work in the corner, but he then runs into a boot and that allows Rollins to retake control. Rollins tries for a crucifix, but Rowan blocks, so Rollins, after some struggling, turns it into a Koji Clutch. Rowan gets out, and it's a standoff as we go to break.

Back from break, Wyatt hits Rollins with a gutbuster, then tags in Rowan. Rowan tears at Rollins' face, then hits a belly-to-back suplex for two. Harper gets in, and squashes Rollins in the corner, then it's YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH time. Rollins flips out of the corner, then drives Harper head-first into the middle turnbuckle. Reigns tags in to a nice pop, and he goes to work, hitting a flying clothesline before tagging in Ambrose. Ambrose takes a moment to cheap shot Rowan, but then walks into a HUGE boot from Harper. Harper tags Wyatt who taunts and paintbrushes Ambrose before tagging in Rowan, telling Rowan to finish Ambrose.

Rowan locks in his DOUBLE NOOGIE OF DISCOMFORT. Ambrose fights out, but then walks into a sidewalk slam. Back to Harper, who fishhooks Ambrose' mouth before they have a chop exchange that Harper cuts off by driving Ambrose into the corner and tagging Rowan. Ambrose escapes a neck cramper, but gets thrown over the top, then kicked in the face as he tries to skin the cat, and we go to another break.

-Warrior DVD promo. *sigh*

Back from break, Ambrose is still playing FIP, and Harper gets a near-fall. Harper gets a Gator Roll, then applies a chinlock. Wyatt gets in on the fun, then tags in Rowan, who opts for a bear hug. Back to Harper, who hits a nice uppercut, then does...something. I have no idea what it's supposed to be, other than LOOK HOW NUTS I AM. Ambrose gets a desperation punch that causes Harper to tag Wyatt, who runs into a pair of boots to the face. Ambrose goes up top, but gets cut off. Ambrose blocks a superplex, and slugs Wyatt down before jumping right into a urinage for two, with Rollins making the save. Then all hell breaks loose, including Harper hitting a suicide dive on Reigns that sends him over the announce table.

Wyatt looks to finish, but Ambrose counters Sister Abigail with a schoolboy for two, then hits a DDT. Ambrose tags Rollins while Wyatt tags Rowan. Rollins cleans house, flying all over the place, and finishing that sequence with a dive over the top that causes him to kick Rowan in the face. Rollins avoids interference from Wyatt, and hits an Asai DDT on Rowan for two. Harper drops Rollins with a big boot, but Ambrose takes him out. Ambrose looks to dive, but Wyatt cuts him off. Reigns hits the Superman Punch on Wyatt. Rowan pitches Reigns outside, but gets caught with a kick from Rollins. Reigns hits his floor-to-apron kick on Rowan, Rollins follows up with a flying knee, then Ambrose finishes with Dirty Deeds.

**3/4 This was solid tag formula work, but their other two matches were just on another level, making this look not nearly as good as it probably would have had those matches not taken place. Those matches had a molten crowd and a chaotic atmosphere and this had neither.

-Rene Young gets some words from The Shield, with Ambrose selling his exhaustion. The Shield explain turning on The Authority as being offended that they called The Shield "faceless" and "expendable". Reigns easily manipulating the crowd into chanting his name is awesome. Reigns has some words for Triple H. Rollins says they expect consequences, but they are prepared for war with The Authority.

-Ziggler VS Swagger is next.

-Adam Rose is still partying.

-The Streak is still over.

-A pretty cool "History of WWE" video airs. Not sure why they waited until this show.

-Zeb Coulter is NOT happy about that dirty foreigner stabbing he and Swagger in the back and joining forces with Paul Heyman.

-Match 2: Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Coulter) VS Dolph Ziggler

-Ziggler hit a dropkick right away, but recklessly flies into the corner, which Swagger dodges before hitting the Swagger Bomb for two. Ziggler fights out of an armlock and backdrops Swagger outside. Ziggler hits a cross-body, then some corner punches. Swagger hits a low tackle right on the knee, but a second Swagger Bomb meets feet. Ziggler goes for his leaing DDT, then settles for a sunset flip when Swagger blocks. Swagger goes for the Patriot Lock, but Ziggler rolls out, and hits the Famouser for two.

Swagger hits a big boot for two, and gets frustrated. Ziggler counters a gutwrench suplex into a DDT for two. Swagger counters another Famouser into a powerbomb, but Ziggler counters that into an awkward victory roll for two. Swagger promptly gets the Patriot Lock for the submission.

*1/2 It looked like they were trying to cram 15 minutes of stuff into 5, so it was rushed. This had zero heat too.

-Alexander Rusev gets to squash someone next.

-BOLIEVE

-Match 3: Sin Cara VS Alexander Rusev (w/Lana)

-Sin Cara hits an enziguiri, but runs right into a thrust kick. Rusev hits a slam and applies a camel clutch for the submission.

SQUASH I said what I think about Rusev in the RAW review.

-ON SMACKDOWN: It's Bryan & The Usos VS Kane, Orton, & Batista

FINAL THOUGHTS: This was a pretty uninteresting show, with nothing worth going out of your way to see.
